Pricing difference

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Hmmmm.
Amazon have seemed to have introduced a wierd pricing structure for their digital downloads.
Buy Feng Shui Assassin as a downloadable ebook from the USA and you will pay 99c. Buy Feng Shui Assassin as a downloadable ebook from the UK (or anywhere else) then you pay the inflated price of $3.44.
No explanation of this increase [...]

Kindle ebook at 99c

Monday, July 6th, 2009

The only sensible price for a self-pubbed book - offering Feng Shui Assassin as a downloadable ebook at 99 cents.
Reached the final step of the easy-peasy process for offering a book on Kindle - only to be asked for an American address and bank details. Doh!! So am asking around for a friendly yank who [...]

Distribution blues too . . .

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

With TT week quickly approaching (an event that will see 30,000 sweaty-arsed bikers descend onto the rock for the annual motorbike ‘death race’) I was keen to get some more exposure into the different book outlets on the Island.
Feng Shui Assassin is steadily selling (about 1 a week) in one shop - so my dur-brained [...]

Distribution Blues

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Feng Shui Assassin has sold almost one hundred copies through the various distribution methods. Amazon, Smashwords and a bricks’n’mortar place called ‘The Lexicon’ in Strand Street (Douglas, Isle of Man). Not too bad, really - and it’s a weird feeling knowing that people I don’t know have bought and read the book.
Even had the odd [...]

Please read - and pass on

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

In a stroke of ingenuity (read: I most likely read it somewhere and forgotten the source) I have taken five shiny covered feng shui assassin books and left them around London after visiting there on Friday.
Within the front page I wrote ‘Please read - and pass on’.
Not the greatest attempt at a viral marketing campaign, [...]

Smashwords are hosting the first digital version of Feng Shui Assassin.
Whilst Biddles the printers do the paper thing - I looked around for a distributor for the electronic version - and Smashwords won hands down.
Self published e-books from independent authors - the site allows for a profile, a quick and painless upload of your book [...]

Pick your battles

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

As an Indy Author the writing/editing and production of the thing is half the battle. And the first half, at that.
Having your book published through traditional methods means that the publisher can push it into the retail outlets, the book stores and other nooks and crannies available. This allows for casual browsers (which I’m sure [...]

Love reading - then Love Writing

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Self publishers face a difficult task when it comes to distributing ‘the book’. I have read a few independent author blogs that have talked about the frustrations of trying to get their book into a Waterstones or Borders (outside of their local town). This is why I plan to concentrate efforts on Amazon and other [...]
